A - Shift

Battalion Chief Mike Merlino graduated from Glide High School and then served in the US Army infantry for three years. BC Merlino started in the fire service in 1993 as a Volunteer Firefighter. BC Merlino attended UCC to obtain his Paramedic in the mid 1990’s. BC Merlino was hired as a firefighter/Paramedic in January 1996 with Douglas County Fire District 2. BC Merlino was later promoted to Liuetenat and retired in 2022. After his retirement from Fire District 2, BC Merlino worked for Sutherlin Fire Department as a part time employee. He was hired Fulltime as a Battalion Chief in July of 2023. In his off time, Mike enjoys traveling in his newly acquired motorhome with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, and loves attending University of Oregon games.
