Chief Dwayne Gettys is our C-Shift Battalion Chief. BC Gettys started his fire service career at Sutherlin Fire Department in 1994. He was hired fulltime as a Firefighter/Paramedic with Sutherlin Fire Department in 1996. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1997. During the contract for service with Douglas County Fire District 2, he became an employee of the Fire District in 2010 and served until his retirement in the Summer of 2023. BC Gettys has two associate degrees in Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services. BC Gettys teaches part time for Umpqua Community College as a Paramedic/EMT instructor. Dwayne enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Juli, his children, and grandchildren. Additionally, Dwayne coaches Basketball for Umpqua Valley Christian School.
